Optical apparatus, applications of.-In inclined transparent mirror devices the mirror extends over part only of the scene in order to reduce the depth of the apparatus, and its lower edge is concealed by a constructional feature, such as a windowsash 7, while its other edges extend beyond the visible area. The design &c. 13 to be reflected is arranged above the mirror 8, and is illuminated continuously or intermittently by a lamp 14. The sides and the back 11 may be open. The design 13 may be on a fixed sheet or on a moving band &c. The mirror 8 may be spherical.
