Abstract

258,623. Wymann, J., (Assignee of Wymann, G.). Sept. 21, 1925, [Convention date]. Fluid-pressure. - A brake for motor cars, adapted to be operated by the exhaust gases of the engine, comprises a piston 7 having connections 8, 9, 10 to the brakes and working in a cylinder 6 connected by a branch pipe 4 to the exhaust pipe 1 of the engine cylinders 3. The brake is rendered operative by closing a butterfly valve 14 disposed in the pipe 1, the valve being actuated by connections 19, 17, 21 and a lever 22 disposed on the steering pillar. A second butterfly valve may be provided in the pipe 1 to permit of independent control of the brake by a passenger in the car. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), the control device for the brake may be arranged on the steering wheel. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
