Abstract
256,960. Krupp Germaniawerft Akt.- Ges., F. Aug. 11, 1925, [Convention date]. Addition to 216,497. Launching torpedoes.-Relates to torpedo tubes A comprising, as described in the parent Specification, a piston G separated by a short distance x from the rear of the torpedo F and adapted to eject the torpedo when driven forward by compressed air admitted through the door B by a pipe D with a valve E, the forward impulse being transmitted to the torpedo by water admitted between the torpedo and the piston from a reservoir R through a pipe P with a valve Q, and the piston, being adapted at the end of its stroke to engage a catch 0 and deflect a lever M, which by means of linkwork L, K opens a valve H, allowing the compressed air to escape and the piston to be driven back by the water pressure. According to the invention the piston G is made hollow as shown and surrounds the rear end of the torpedo. 'When the piston is in its rearmost position, it abuts against a rubber ring b<1>.
