Spray burners.-A liquid-fuel burner comprises a fuel chamber 7 fitted with a projecting tube 8 carrying a seating 10 for a conical valve 9 on an adjustable grooved spindle 12, a primary air conduit 5 fitted with a nozzle 6, and a secondary air conduit 4 fitted with an adjustable nozzle 4<b>. Fuel supplied under pressure to the fuel chamber 7 is discharged past the valve 9 in a conical sheet and after being atomized by the primary air from the nozzle 6 is mixed with secondary air from the nozzle 4<b> and is delivered through a conduit 2 tangentially into a cylindrical combustion chamber 1 and ignited. The swirling combustion gases are then discharged into the revolving or other furnace through a port 20 in the fireproof wall of the combustion chamber. The combustion chamber is provided with a sleeve 21 which fits tightly into a circular opening in the revolving furnace. The primary and secondary air is supplied to the conduits 4, 5 through a pipe 16. A cock 18 and a damper 17 control the admission of fuel and air to the chamber 7 and conduits 4, a respectively, the regulation of the fuel and air supplies being effected by the adjustment of the valve 9 and nozzle 4b. On disconnecting the cock 18 the fuel chamber 7 and tube 8 may be unscrewed for cleaning purposes.
