Abstract

255,569. Jorgensen, M. Vogel-. May 4, 1925. Rotary kilns.-Means for grinding nodules of dried slurry, for instance in the making of Portland cement, are situated between the drying and calcining zones of a rotary kiln. Nodules 3 at the end of the drying zone pass beneath a grinding member 4 rolling on the lining 2, and held in position by two series of projections 5, 6. In a modification, a number of grinding chambers are attached to the kiln, and communicate therewith through inlets for the nodules, and outlets for the ground material.
