Abstract

255,442. S.A.F.A.T. Soc. Anon. Fabbrica Armi-Torino. July 16, 1925, [Convention date]. Machine guns. - A sliding and rotating breech-bolt having locking lugs inclined at such an angle that the unlocking rotation is produced by the back pressure, is connected by a lug and inclined slot to a non- rotary slide on which the recoil spring acts, so that the locking rotation of the bolt is produced by the slide, and is locked to the slide during the rectilinear reciprocation by a spring catch. As shown, the breech-bolt 5 has inclined locking lugs 7 engaging corresponding shoulders on a ring member 2 of high resistance steel attached to the breech body. The recoil spring 17 acts on a slide 12 mounted within the tubular rear end of the breech-bolt, and having a lug 11 engaging an inclined slot 14. Fig. 7, in the breech-bolt, and a straight slot 10 in thebreech body 1. Mounted on the breech-bolt is a catch lever 8 adapted to engage a slot 15 in the slide when the bolt has been rotated to the unlocking position. The catch is released by a projection 9 when the bolt reaches its forward position.
