255,043. Suida, H. July 13, 1925, [Convention date]. Acetic acid; cresol.-In the production of concentrated acetic acid from dilute aqueous or crude pyrolignious acid by extraction of a superheated mixture of dilute acid and steam with an extractive medium of high boiling point e.g. cresol, a solvent of low boiling point containing chlorine is used for recovering the extractive medium which remains dissolved in the effluents from the extractive treatment. Specification 230,447 is referred to.
