Abstract

254,742. I.G. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges., (Assignees of Farbwerke vorm. Meister. Lucius, & Br³ning). July 2, 1925, [Convention date]. Isodibenzanthrone dyes are obtained by treating with alkaline condensing agents the aminohalogenbenzanthrones obtainable from nitrated Bz1-halogenbenzanthrones. The nitrated Bzlhalogenbenzanthrones are probably the 6-nitro- Bz1-halogen compounds since they yield nitroanthraquinone-1-carboxylic acids upon oxidation. according to examples, amino-Bz1-chlor, or amino-Bz1-brom-benzanthrone is treated with alcoholic caustic alkali; the product dyes cotton in reddish-grey to black tints, which assume a green hue on chlorinating; it therefore differs from nitrated violanthrone or isoviolanthrone (see Specification 23052/10).
