Planing. - In a rotary planing attachment for smoothing the cutting blocks of a leather-cutting or like machine, the planing cutter is driven by an electromotor 31, the casing of which has a bearing sleeve 30 which screws into the lower of two jaws 22, 23, by means of which the attachment is clamped on a rail 10 which is fixed when required to a ledge 15 on the tool support 16 of the machine. Teeth 34 on the sleeve 30 are engaged by the teeth of a pinion 35 mounted in the upper jaw 22 and rotated by means of a handle 37 to fix or release the jaws. The blades 43 of the cutter are fixed by screws 42 at the ends of a cross member 38 and can be adjusted to present any one of four separate cutting edges.
