Chucks.-In a machine for internal or other grinding the work is carried by a chuck 28 comprising an outer section 28 on a spindle 27 and an inner slotted section 28<a>, the sections being of conical formation at 28b, and the section 28<a> is moved axially by a bar comprising a sleeve 115<a> engaging the section and having two bars 115<b> extending therefrom and fitting in channels in the spindle 27, the ends of the bars 115<b> being secured to the hub of a handwheel 118 threaded upon the epindle 27.
