Abstract

An electronic cigarette comprises a shell 1, a battery, a vaporiser 2, a timer 4 and a display 5. The timer is connected to the display and the vaporiser, and is powered by the battery. The timer is used to program or alter the time duration for each use of the cigarette. When the cigarette begins to be used the timer starts a countdown. When the countdown stops, the timer immediately turns off the vaporiser. The timer then records data regarding the time and number of usages which are then shown on the display to help users track their progress and reduce their usage. The timer may be connected to a reset button to manually override the programmed control. The timer may contain a memory chip which allows the user to program or alter the time duration for each usage, or the total number of usages each day.

Description

An Electronic Cigarette with Timer
TECHNICAL FIELD
s This invention is an electronic cigarette with timer, under the category of electronic cigarette technology.
BACKGROUND
An electronic cigarette is a replacement for conventional tobacco cigarette or an aid to help people quit smoking. It gives the user a feeling similar to tobacco smoking but is considered less harmful to health since it is free of hazardous materials such as tar and suspended micro particulates found in conventional cigarettes. It is believed that less nicotine inhaled as a result of electronic cigarette usage will help the user to reduce his addiction to nicotine until he could finally quit smoking. But in reality, electronic cigarettes available on the market perform poorly in helping people quit smoking, though they do help to replace tobacco cigarettes and reduce harm. The main reason behind it is the fact that smokers are both physically and psychologically addicted. If they want to quit smoking, they need to overcome their addiction to nicotine but also give up their behavioural habit of smoking. So they need a new model of electronic cigarette that can help them plan a reduction schedule to limit their usage.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
This invention is an electronic cigarette with timer that allows the user to programme his usage of the electronic cigarette on demand and exercise control of usage.
This invention is an electronic cigarette consisting of a shell, a battery, a vaporizer as well as a first timer and a display in particular. The said first timer is connected with the display and the vaporizer, and is powered by the battery. The said first timer is used to programme the time duration for each usage. When the user begins to use the electronic cigarette, the first timer starts a countdown. When the countdown stops, the first timer immediately turns off the vaporizer. The said display is used to display data and information regarding time used, number of usages in a day and status of the device.
The said first timer is connected to a reset button which allows the user to turn on or off the timer, or to turn on or off the vaporizer manually overriding the programmed control.
The said first timer contains a memory chip, which allows the user to programme or S alter the time duration for each usage as well as the number of usages for each day, and the vaporizer is turned on or off accordingly.
When the user begins to use the electronic cigarette, the vaporizer is activated and the first timer starts a countdown. Once the time duration programmed for each usage is used up, the first timer will automatically turn off the vaporizer. Then a second timer will countdown a predetermined time in order to limit usage. In certain embodiments, this may be 20 minutes. The user can manually over-ride the second timer's predetermined countdown manually using the reset button. Each time the device is used it counts one towards a daily total of uses. Once the number of usages for each day are used up, the first timer will automatically turn off the vaporizer. The vaporizer cannot be re-activated during the day unless the reset button is used to turn it on manually. The first timer re-activates the vaporizer every 24 hours and starts countdown for another day.
The said first timer can be connected to a computer to programme or alter the time duration for each usage as well as the total number of usages for each day. The duration for each usage can be programmed between 2 and 6 minutes. The total number of usages for each day can be a fixed number or a gradual reduction by day, week, or month.
The memory chip within the said first timer records the actual time used and the total number of usages. The user can track his own progress by comparing the data with the reduction schedule.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Embodiments of the invention will now be described by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying figures, in which: Figure 1 shows an external view of the electronic cigarette with timer.
Figure 2 shows the components of the electronic cigarette with timer
DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Figures 1 and 2 show an example for this invention. The said electronic cigarette with timer consists of a shell 1, a vaporizer 2, battery 3, a timer 4, a display 5 and a reset button 6. The timer 4 contains a memory chip 7. As Figure 2 shows, the timer 4 is connected with the display 5 and the reset button 6, and also connected with the vaporizer 2, all powered by the battery 3. As Figure 1 shows, the display 5 and the reset button 6 can be seen outside the shell while other components rest inside the shell. The vaporizer 2 is detachable which makes it easy to remove and replace.
The electronic cigarette can be connected to a computer to programme or alter the time schedule in the timer 4. For example, the user can decide to have 4 minutes for each usage and a total of 10 usages each day, and the total number of usages each day will be reduced by 1 each week.
When the user begins to use the device, the vaporizer 2 is activated and the timer 4 starts a countdown. When the 4 minutes countdown stops, in case of both continuous or intermittent use, the timer 4 will automatically turn off the vaporizer 2. The user can begin the second usage by pushing the reset button 6 or after waiting for a second timer to complete a predetermined countdown. When initiated again the timer will start another countdown. In the first week, once a predetermined number of uses usages, for example 10 uses per day, are used up, the timer 4 will automatically turn off the vaporizer 2, and the user will not be able to re-activate the vaporizer for the rest of the day, unless he pushes the reset button 6 to activate the vaporizer 2 manually. The total number of usage may be fixed for every 24 hours in the first week, even when the ration is not used up the day before. In the second week, the total number of usage will be reduced. The whole process will continue as necessary.
Data regarding the actual time used and total number of usage is recorded in the memory chip 7, which allows the user to track his progress by comparing the daily data information. All the data regarding time used and status of the device is shown on the display 5.
