Abstract
252,420. Martin, F. G., and Wall. A. T. Jan. 26, 1925. Annealing and tempering.-Mild steel in the form of plates or other rolled articles or forgings for use in shipbuilding, bridges, rolling stock, boilers, &c. and having a carbon content of 0.15 to 0.30 per cent is heated throughout to a temperature of 800-900‹ C. and when so heated is removed from the furnace in this condition and rapidly cooled by being subjected to blasts or strong currents of air caused to flow over the surfaces of the same or immersed in oil or other liquid such as water. Specifications 126,049, 228,625 and 251,026 are referred to.
