Abstract

A graphic display holder comprises a shaped aperture 2 for displaying the graphic 4. The aperture 2 includes a slot 3 into which a replaceable graphic panel 4 can be inserted and retained by means of side channels 5, an upper channel 6, lower channel 7 and back panel 8, allowing sliding insertion and removal of the replaceable graphic panel 4 through the front of the display holder. The slot is preferably formed with angled edges to ease insertion or removal. Drainage channels may be provided in the lower channel 7 to reduce the risk of water and dirt gathering in it.

Description

Graphic insert holder This invention relates to a device for holding graphic panels.

There is often a need for a graphic eLement, such as, but not limited to, a map or promotional graphic to be easily and quickLy replaced. ConventionaL methods of doing this often require speciaList contractors and tools or use expensive replacement parts.

To overcome these problems this invention proposes using a panel with a slot detaiL that aLLows a graphic insert to be inserted up into a holder with supporting channeLs to all edges. It is pushed to the point where it is fulLy inserted then slid back into a channeL on the lower side of the sLot detail. It can then be viewed through the opening in the paneL.

The combination of the slot detaiL and channels allow the graphic insert to be inserted and removed with no speciaList tooLs or persons. It also aLLows the graphic insert to be securely held, and yet remain visible.

The physical support provided by the invention aLlows the graphic inserts to be made of a thin gauge material, reducing cost.

Preferably the holder is created as a seamless, integrated part of the unit on which it is used avoiding areas where dirt can colLect. This results in the opening and sLot detail being the only visibLe parts of the device, other than the graphic insert.

Preferably the holder has no movable, or removable parts (other than the graphic paneL) reducing risk of damage in use and avoiding any visible fixings.

Preferably the unit has drainage detaiLs in the lower channel to prevent build up of water The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a graphic insert being inserted, via the slot detail into the channels.

Figure 2 shows the graphic insert then being slid back into the lower channel on the Lower side to the rear of the slot detail.

Figure 3 shows a section of the unit, providing more detail on the arrangement of the channels.

Figure 4 shows an alternative embodiment in which illumination is provided to allow for back lighting of the graphic insert.

Figure 5 show an aLternative embodiment where the invention is not an integral part of the main panel, but an element that can be affixed to the front of an existing or new panel.

In figure 1, a panel 1 has a shaped opening 2 incLuding a sLot detaiL 3 into which a replaceable graphic insert 4 can be inserted. The graphic insert is retained by the back panel 8 and side channels 5 and pushed up into the upper channeL 6 until it reaches the top at which point the bottom the the panel 4 has cLeared the bottom of the opening 2 and can be pushed back onto the back panel 8.

In figure 2 the graphic insert 4 can then be pushed back down into the lower channel 7 at which point the graphic insert 4 is then securely retained.

To remove the graphic insert 4 it is pushed up towards the upper channel 6 untiL the bottom edge of the graphic insert 4 is clear of the top edge of the sLot detaiL 3 at which stage it can then be pulled away from the back panel 8 so it can be pulled out through the slot detail 3 and then pulled down away from the upper channeL 6 until fully removed.

In figure 3 a section through the whole system is shown to show the arrangement of the upper channel 6 and lower channel 7.

In figure 4 the back panelS is made of a translucent or transparent material to allow Light 10 from a light source or sources 9 behind the back panel 8 to back Light the graphic insert 4.

In figure 5 the panel 1 containing the functional elements (items 2,3,5,6,7) is fixed onto a Larger back paneL 8 which is either an existing or new surface.

Claims

Claims 1. A graphic paneL holder which alLows the easy insertion and removal of graphic paneLs.
2. A graphic panel holder according to cLaim 1, in which the graphic paneLs are heLd in such a way as to alLow a thin graphic insert panel to be held flat and secure with no additional fixings or removable parts.
3. A graphic panel holder according to cLaim 2, in which the construction of the unit provides an integrated and seamLess finish to the exposed face of the unit.
4. A graphic panel holder according to any of the proceeding claims, in which the sLot detaiL is angLed in such a way as to aLlow the panels to be easily inserted and removed
5. A graphic panel holder according to any of the proceeding claims, in which drainage channels are incLuded in the Lower channeL to reduce the risk of water and dirt gathering in the lower channel.
6. A graphic panel holder according to cLaim 2, in which the functional elements are integrated into an independent panel that can be affixed to an existing or new surface. x
