Abstract

250,974. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Fernberger, H. M.). April 17, 1925, [Convention date]. Filaments.-Materials are incorporated in electric lamp filaments which impart to them a crystalline structure both of interlocked-crystal form, whence a non-sagging character is derived for the small helical filaments of gas-filled lamps, and the small-crystal structure of thoriated tungsten, whence the shock and vibration resisting character of filaments is derived. To produce this structure. less than one-half per cent. each of sodium, potassium, silica, and thoria may be added to the tungsten. Specifications 155,851 and 186,497 are referred to.
