Capes; coats; linings.-In wearing-apparel such as capes, coats, and the like, the lining consists of a sheet of fabric a attached to a layer b of wadding, cotton, wool, down, or the equivalent, which layer lies between the fabric a and the cloth d of the garment. The compound lining, which is quilted by stitching, is attached at the edges to the cloth of the garment at a series of points only to allow of the escape of disintegrated particles of the wadding or the like. In the preferred construction, this interrupted connection is only employed at the bottom edge. The unbacked face of the wadding is adjacent the lining fabric a. The fabric a is lapped round the edge of the wadding at a<1>.
