Abstract
249,364. Terrell, T. May 19, 1925. Oil reservoirs; oil supply; wick-operating devices.-An imitation candle or other oil lamp comprises an oil reservoir 15 containing absorbent material 17, a holder for the reservoir 15, and a chimney support 27 carrying also a wick raiser 19 mounted on the top of the reservoir 15. The holder 1 consists of a base 2 formed with a peripheral flange 3 and a flanged central aperture, a tube 11 to receive the reservoir 1 and act as charging receptacle therefor, and a socket 7 having a peripheral flange reversely bent to form channels 8, 9 to receive flanges 4, 10 on the holder 1 and tube 11 respectively and so unite them without the use of solder. The tube 11 is provided with a funnel 12 and the lower end of the reservoir 15 may be notched as at 16<a> to facilitate the passage of oil into the reservoir. The wick-tube 22 is provided with beads 24, 23 engaging the chimney support 27 and an annulus 26 which may be fixed to the reservoir 15. The wick extends downwards into the absorbent material 17 and is of such a length that its upper edge may be raised without disturbing its lower end.
