Cables and conductors, processes for making; insulating coverings for cables and conductors. - In high-tension conductors which are insulated in a covering of paper or like insulating material, ducts are formed on the periphery of the insulation for the purpose of drying it by a current of air or the creation of a vacuum. In the construction shown, the conductor consists of two layers of wire 1 wound about a helical wire support 2. The insulating covering 3 is formed with ducts 4 by spaced cords or strands 5 of paper, hemp, &c. and an additional thin layer 6 of the insulating material.
