Protectors, construction of. - A removable heel piece comprises a top piece A, Fig. 1, and lift B recessed in the middle C and with a groove D communicating with the breast of the heel whereby a tool may be inserted to prise off the heel piece. The unit A, B is concaved in a press so as to make good peripheral contact with the permanent heel. An assembled heel, Fig. 4, consists of the elements A, B, a flat lift G, and a concaved lift H to form a heel seat. Instead of forming the lift H concave, the lift C may have a concave upper surface to which a flat lift H is fitted. The above heel may be adapted for use in the manner described in Specification 244,530, [Class 17 (ii), Boots and shoes, Construction of], in which the end of a shoe sole is recessed into the heel.
