Abstract
248,176. Grassmann, P. Feb. 27, 1925. Magnetic instruments.-The armature 6 of a loud speaker, pivoted on screws 7 at one side of the telephone casing 1 so as to lie above the pole-pieces 5 of magnets 3, is connected by a controlling member 18 to a diaphragm 19 in a sound box 2 mounted on the casing 1, the member 18 being pivotally mounted, so as to be forced to follow the vibrations of the armature in both directions, in a support 16 on the armature arranged eccentrically with respect to the centres of the armature and diaphragm. One end of the member 18 is connected to the centre of the diaphragm, whilst the other end is pivoted at 17 on the wall of the sound box. The distance of the armature from the pole piece is roughly adjusted by insertions 10, fine adjustment being effected by operation of the pin 9 upon which an extension 8 of the armature is adapted to rest. In the modification, Fig. 3, the telephone casing is formed in two parts 1, 1<1>, the armature 6 being arranged to oscillate between two magnets which are energized so as to be of opposite polarities. The extension 8 of the armature is secured to the adjusting pin 9, whilst the support 16<1> of the controlling member 18 passes through a hole in the top of the casing 1<1>.
