Motor power plant.-In a marine turbine installation each propeller shaft F is driven by a distinct group of turbines A - - D geared to a common wheel E through pinions a - d, each group having a plurality of its individual turbines arranged on one side of the plane of the common wheel and a plurality arranged on the other side thereof, while suitable connections or cross-couplings are provided for the individual turbines of each group for varying the passage of steam therethrough. Thus, the turbines A - - D may be connected in series by the pipes H, J, K, L, or by closing a valve 0 and opening an inlet M and a valve P the turbines A, B work in parallel and discharge into the turbine C, which is in series with the turbrine D. The turbine D may be double or single now. Astern turbines Q, R are connected in series as shown, or a single astern turbine, or two astern turbines in series or in parallel, may be arranged in the low-pressure casing.
