Fats and fatty oils, extracting.-Nitrogenous extracts and oils are obtained from solid albuminoid substance, such as fish, by cooking the substance, as in an autoclave at a temperature of 100‹-120‹ C. with agitation, separating the fatty matters, and afterwards subjecting the mass to heterolysis by proteolytic ferments. Ferment-containing liquid for effecting heterolysis may be obtained by subjecting fish residue or brewers' or distillery yeast to autolysis at about 40‹ C. for 24-48 hours in the presence of an antiseptic such as a mixture of chloroform and toluene. Upon filtration of the fermentcontaining liquid, fats and nitrogenous residues are obtained. Specifications 235,834, 236,158, and 247,977 are referred to.
