Abstract
246,148. Soc. 3rrangaise des produits Alimentaires AzotÚs. Jan. 14, 19-25, [Convention date]. Fats and fatty oils, extracting.-In a process for the autolysis of fish at a temperature of between 37-55‹ C. in the presence of not more than 10 per cent of sodium chloride, at the completion of the digestion, the fish oil collects on the surface of the liquid and is separated, e.g. by decantation. The main liquid is then sieved, the sieve residue furnishing both a fish oil and powders containing nitrogen and phosphorus suitable as manure. The main liquid is filtered, the nitrogenous residue obtained on the filter containing a fairly high percentage of fats which may be extracted, giving a fresh quantity of fish oil and a nitrogenous manure. The filtrate, from which a portion of fish oil is still extractable, contains the nitrogenous juices which may be used in liquid or in paste form. The process is particularly applicable to the treatment of fish no longer fresh, or of large size, or containing large amounts of fat. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the application of the method of extraction of the fatty matters to the process described in Specification 231,864. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
