Screw propellers.-The blades of the lifting propellers d of a helicopter are mounted on hollow stems m rotatable in extensions h of the bosses, and a motor g in the root of one blade of each propeller drives a shaft n geared to the shaft r of a propeller e which drives the blade. Alternatively, the motors may be placed on the framework of the machine. When the propellers d are stopped the blades are turned in their bosses to act as planes.
