Abstract

A bag transportation, re-use and storage system comprises at least one fabric carrier bag and a portable carrier bag holder. The fabric carrier bag is a compactable woven fabric bag and the bag holder is a storage bag with at least one opening of a variable size. The opening may comprise an elasticized material. The carrier bags may comprise woven fabric and may be washable.

Description

Handy bag Patent application Backoround This Invention relates to a
handy bag comprising of a set of fabric camer bags (FCB) and a portable carrier bag holder (PBH). There is increasing awareness that we should reduce the number of carrier bags we use. Re-useable bags offer an alternative to the carrier bags but have some problems particularly relating to larger size shops. The average fami'y shop uses 21 carrier bags and most reusable bags are too bulky to conveniently cany this quantity to the shops. The second issue is that many people do not like putting items like raw meat and fish into their re-useable bags in case they leak and do not like the food safety aspect of carfldng produce like fresh bread which often comes in open packaging in a bag which has been used for carrying raw produce Without having been properly cleaned first. It is these convenience and hygiene reasons that is creating the still large demand for disposable plastic or paper type bags at present.
Statement of invention
To overcome this, the present invention proposes a FCB which is lightweight and compressible like a plastic carrier bag but is made of a woven fabric so that it can be washed to be used with the PBH. The FCB is lightweight and compressible which allows it to be easily squeezed into a ball type shape In the hands and pushed though the elasticised opening of the PBH. The compressibility of the FCB would allow several of the FCB's to be stored in the PBH. The FCB is a suitable alternative to the plastic carrier bag for use with the Portable carrier bag holder and dispenser (PCBHD) we previously invented (GB0626036.8) The FCB Is a bag with an open top and handles for carrying at the top. The PBH is a bag with an eiastlcated opening allowing the Insertion and removal of the FCB. The invention relates to the combined way these two items work together. The handy bag stated in this invention provides a simple compact way of storing and carrying one or more FCB. This provides a solution to transporting and using storing the re-useable bags with it in a compact form making it ideal for taking many re-usable bags shopping.
An aim of the invention is to provide a handy bag which is a simple, inexpensive, compact, light weight and convenient way to carry and store several re-useable bags.
According to the first aspect of the invention there is provided a PBH comprising of a means of inserting and removing the FCB through at least one opening of a variable size.
According to the second aspect of the invention the FBC provides a suitable replacement for the plastic carrier bags but Is a woven fabric making them easily washable and re-useable.
Advantaoes The FCB is made of a woven, lightweight and thin fabric making the FCB washable and able to be squeezed and scnmnched up by hand Into a ball type shape allowing easy insertion through an elasticised opening.
The FCB is a suitable alternative to plastic carrier bags which can be easily stored in the PBH.
The FCB is washable.
The FCB Is can be compressed by hand and inserted into the PBH which will prevent it from expandlng.excessively.
The PBH makes easy to store, transport and dispenses FCB both in the home and when shopping.
The PBH keeps the FCB'S compressed so that and not bulky making them a convenient way to use lots of reusable bags when shopping. It
Preferably, the FCB will be made of a fabric which is strong, thin, smooth and compressible.
Preferably, the bag design Will be similar to standard plastic carder bag designs.
Preferably the PBH will be made of a flexible fabric and have one elastlcated opening An example of the invention will now be described by refemng to the accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 shows the FCB from the front in an upright position, in a first configuration for scrunching' up or folding to be inserted into the PBH for storage.
Figure 2 shows the PBH from the front in an upright positIon, in a first configuration for holding and storing the FCB.
Figure 3 shows the PBH as a perspective view from the top, in a first configuration for holding and storing the FCB.
Figure 4 shows the FCB as a perspective view from the bottom, in a first configuration for holding and storing the FCB.
Figure 5 shows the PBH from the front in an upright position and the FCB scrunched up, in a second configuration for the FCB to be Inserted or dispensed from the PBH.
