Abstract

A paving slab device comprises a steel arm with a paving slab holder. The holder comprises a bar for at the bottom of the steel arm. A second parallel but longer bar is located above the bottom bar and forms a cup for holding the paving slab. In use the slab is position vertically, the cup is located on the top of the paving slab. The arm is then pivoted thus moving the slab to a horizontal position. The device is then removed.

Description

Lam a 76 year old retired Pipe fitter, and was faced with the prospect
of relaying the 2' x2' slabs on the path and patio.
This would have resulted in possible back injury or damaged fingers, as I am a carer for my wife, I could not afford this to happen, so I came up with the solution of a slab lifter.
The advantage of its use is it would be benificial to Landscape gardeners, Councilworkers, Hire shops, or anyone laying paths,driveways or patios, as you can fit the slabs down as well,on your own without the assistance of anyone else.
If the slab is in the upright position with the slab lifter holding the slab, the operator can adjust the site, such as placing concrete or sand on the site area, then lower the slab into place using the lifter.

Claims (1)

  1. The slab lifter is made up from a linch heavy duty steel pipe with a foot measuring 50mm x 150mm plate welded to the bottom of the pipe, above this plateis a 50mm x 12mm steel bar welded to the pipe, and a brace bar between the pipe and bar for strength.
