Abstract
244,166. Potter, E., (Madsenell Corporation). Sept. 11, 1924. Dry processes of refining nickel.-Metal for use as an anode in the electrodeposition of nickel is obtained by passing air or other oxidizing gas through a molten mass of nickel until black oxide of nickel appears on the surface, the amount of oxygen necessary being in excess of 0.1 per cent. Alternatively, nickel peroxide may be added to the molten mass. The metal should preferably be free from chromium and silicon. The molten mass is cast in chill moulds.
