Abstract

The emergency brake light system indicates harder than normal braking conditions of road vehicles to give road users sufficient warning of the intensity of the braking of vehicles in front of them. In use, the rear brake light or other light on the rear of the vehicle flashes to indicate harsh braking and flashes quicker the harder the brakes are pressed. Alternatively, the rear brake light stays illuminated normally but may have alongside a different coloured or flashing light which operates under heavy braking conditions to alert drivers of the danger. The light system may be incorporated on any type of motor vehicle or motorcycle.

Description

TLTLE:SafetyLightSystem 2439394 This invention relates to a safety
light system for motor vehicles.

When vehicles brake on roads and motorways, especially in adverse driving conditions such as rain and fog it is often difficult to gauge how hard the cars in front are braking, this can cause very serious and sometimes fatal accidents.

STATEMENT OF INVENTION

To prevent this from happening the present invention proposes a flashing or different coloured brake light, which is used when the vehicle is braking heavily.

The flashing or different coloured light will ensure that people travelling behind will be alerted to the intensity of the braking of the vehicles in front of them, thus enabling them to react in a suitable way.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The braking system in the vehicle would be as a normal braking system t that when a certain amount of pressure was applied to the brakes it initiated dnergency brake light system. This would change the normal brake light which would normaHy be illuminated constantly; into a rapidly flashing brake light which flashes quicker the harder the brakes are pressed.

Alternatively the normal brake light can stay illuminated as normal, but under heavy braking conditions another different coloured or flashing light comes into play alongside the normal brake light to alert drivers of the potential danger.

Claims (1)

 1.
CLAIMS

1. An emergency brake light system whereby the normal brake light unit has a flashing response to heavy braking conditions instead of simply illuminating.

2. An alternate use could be a different coloured or different light unit completely which is activated under heavy braking conditions, this would either light up a different colour completely to all other lights on the vehicle, or would flash rapidly under heavy braking.

3. The light system can be incorporated on any type of motor vehicle or motorcycle.
