Abstract
A bread storage device, i.e. a bread bin has an associated freezing apparatus which is capable of freezing bread. The freezing apparatus is a compression refrigeration system which has a compressor, a heat exchanger, a fan, and an associated control, which regulates the temperature of the storage area. The bread bin has a sealed door 6 for access, and may include an on/off switch 1 and an illuminated display 2 which confirms operation. The temperature may be set via a controller 4, and a further illuminated display 3 may flash on and off during the cooling process and stop flashing and display the temperature when the required temperature is achieved. The device may also include an alarm system which provides an alert if the temperature in the compartment has risen above the desired temperature or if the door has been left open for a predetermined duration, and the alarm may be reset via an alarm reset button 5.
Description
The Invention relates to a Bread Bin When bread is put into a conventional
bread bin it can normally only be kept for a couple of days before it starts to deteriorate and goes stale.
To overcome this, the present invention proposes to fit the bread bin with a Control panel, a freezer unit, a mains operated compressor, a heat exchanger, an automatic defroster a fan and a hinged door fitted with a rubber seal.
By fitting the bread bin with the freezer unit the bread can be kept for a longer period of time and most importantly, free up valuable space in consumers freezers where they store bread now. The bread bin would take up the space of a conventional bread bin on top of a kitchen worktop.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawing.
Figure 1. Shows the bread bin fitted with the control panel and door open.
Figure 2. Is a sectional view of the freezing compartment.
The bread bin operates when performing the following procedure.
Put the mains plug into the mains socket and switch on.
Then press the On/Off switch 1 to the On position. If power is OK the indication light 2 will operate and the Display 3 will flash.
Now press the freezer temperature setting button 4 continuously until the desired temperature is reached.
All the above are found in figure 1 When the temperature has been reached in the freezer compartment 10 in fig 2, the display in fig I stops flashing and displays the temperature.
The bread can now be placed in the bin and will start to freeze.
Switch 5 in figure 1 is an optional extra Alarm reset button if an alarm is fitted. This indicates if the temperature in the freezer compartment has risen or the door has been left open for a long period of time.
Claims (4)
- I A bread bin fitted with a Control panel, a frost freezer unit, a mains operated compressor, a heat exchanger an automatic defroster a fan and a hinged door fitted with a rubber seal.
- 2 A bread bin as claimed in 1 which can be fitted with the door opening from left to right (not shown)
- 3 A bread bin as claimed in I which can be fitted with the door opening from right to left.
- 4 A bread bin as claimed in 1 which can be fitted with the door opening upwards were as the Control panel will be fitted at the bottom of the bread bin and not the top as shown in figure 1
