Abstract

Nov. 12, 1924, [Convention date]. , Floats for aerial machines.-An airship for alternative use as a boat, is provided with an adjustably-suspended buoyant car 2 between which and the aerostat 1 is arranged one or more sails 5, the effective area of which is varied by altering the distance between the aerostat and the car. The car 2 is suspended by ropes 3 adapted to be wound upon manually or mechanically-operated windlasses 4. The sail 5 is reefed by rings sliding on ropes 6, the upper and, if desired, also the lower rear points of attachment being movable at right-angles to the plane of the sail for adjusting its setting. The car 2 is constructed with a double skin and the intervening space is divided into cells which are filled with gas. A screw 11 is used for propelling the ship on the water during calms.
