Abstract

Magnetic instruments.-In a telephone receiver of the kind having a shell or rear part f which constitutes a permanently magnetized portion of the magnetic system, the shell is so magnetized as to have two or more independent magnetic systems therein, each system preferably including as a part of its circuit a core, which is associated. with one part cf the shell and is of opposite polarity to that of an adjacent core associated with another part of the shell. In the construction shown, the shell has two permanentlymagnetized portions a, b, a<1>, b<1> associated respectively with cores y z of opposite polarity, and an induced magnetic field is created within the part b, a<1>. The diaphragm c is secured in position within the ear-piece by a screw-threaded ring g, and its distance from the cores may be varied by making the diaphragm itself, or the cores, or parts of the cores ,adjustable.
