Abstract
242,465. Fell, W. Guy-. Dec. 9, 1924. Wire resistances mounted on grooved surfaces. -A coiled resistance wire is arranged in a number of parallel grooves b in the face of an insulating plate a, separated by partitions higher than the diameter of the coil, the wire being protected where it passes round the ends of the partitions, either by recesses in the partitions or by a wall a<1> surrounding the plate. Holes c serve for drainage, and also hold wires which anchor the coil in place. The pitch of the coil may be varied so as to distribute the heating effect as desired, e.g. the coils may be closer at the edge of the plate than at the centre.
