Abstract
Alkali salts of aromatic sulphochloramides are prepared from the aqueous solution of the sulphonamides or salts thereof by adding bleaching powder and treating the product with an alkali salt which will precipitate the calcium. In an example, bleaching powder, p-toluene sulphonamide and calcined sodium carbonate are stirred with water. After heating and separating the precipitated calcium carbonate, crystals of sodium p-toluene sulphochloramide separate on cooling. In a second example, bleaching powder, calcium p-toluene sulphonamide and Glauber's salt are made to react in the presence of water, when, proceeding as in the first example, sodium p-toluene sulphochloramide is obtained. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) alkali salts of other sulphohalogenamides may be prepared by similar processes. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
