Abstract
241,541. France, A. G. Oct. 20, 1924, [Convention date]. Locking nuts. - Relates to lock-nuts or washers formed from sheet metal blanks folded upon themselves and which comprise two hexagonal or like members connected bv an integral strip. According to the invention each of the hexagonal members a, b has an integral tongue d, e which engages a portion of the complementary side of the other member. The adjacent edges of the tongues are inclined to the vertical as shown at f. The bolt hole is tapped through both members at an inclination to the vertical. The tongue d may be slightly shorter than the tongue e to allow the members to move closer together in distortion. When the two members are drawn together on screwing up, a gripping action is set up due to the inclinaton of the threads, to the wedging action set up between the tongues, and partial relative rotation of the members.
