Stands for golf club carriers. - A support for a golf bag comprises a substantially arcuate base plate adapted to be secured near the top of the bag, leg members pivoted to the plate so as to extend rearwardly of the bag when opened, a member vertically-slidable on the base plate, a carrying-handle and/or one end of the carrying-strip being attached to the vertically-slidable member and a member connected to the vertically-slidable member to communicate the movement thereof to the leg members. The two legs 14, 15 are pivoted on studs 14<a> projecting from an arcuate metal shell 12 attached to and partially surrounding the mouth of the bag. The upper ends of the legs are connected, by rotatable studs 16b, to an arc-shaped strap 17 arranged to slide vertically within a recess in the shell 12. The strap 17 is attached to a vertically-sliding bar 28 carrying the usual handle 32. When the bag is raised from the ground by means of the handle 32 the btrap 17 slides relative to the bag, and the legs 14, 15 are drawn in and may be locked against the bag by means of snap loops 36, Fig. 2. When the bag is set upon the ground the legs are splayed out to form a tripod with the bag itself. The usual shoulder strap 34 is attached to the upper end of the handle so as to close the legs when the bag is lifted by the shoulder strap.
