Abstract

A means of attaching a range of items to concrete fencing posts without the need for drilling or damaging the integrity of the posts. The bracket 1 is formed to the profile of the fencing post, with a clamping mechanism 5. This allows the bracket to be slid up or down the post to the desired height, but when locked on prevents any movement. The bracket can be used for a range of attachments for example: - vine eyes, and hanging basket hooks.

Description

Movable bracket for fencing posts.
This invention relates to a fixing for concrete posts.
Reinforced concrete fencing posts are widely used, and provide a strong and durable means of supporting a range of fencing panels. However, their strength and durability are compromised by any drilling of holes to fix ancillary items directly to the post.
This invention allows hanging baskets, ornaments, bird boxes, trellis work, and many other similar ancillary items to be readily attached to the fence post in such a way that no drilling of the post is required.
The invention provides a means of clamping a bracket onto the profile of the fence post.
The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
Figure 1 shows a bracket attached to a post.
Figure 2 illustrates two alternative of construction for the bracket and the clamping mechanism.
Figure 3 is a cut section illustrating the washer plate.
The bracket comprises a metal clasp ( 1) formed to match the profile of the concrete fence post. This may be a single piece (2), or of two side pieces (3) connected to a solid timber or similar block (4). In either case, the clasp is tightened against the face of the fence post by turning a bolt (5) in a nut (6) anchored to the front of the clasp. A metal washer plate (7) protects the surface of the concrete from the screwing action of the bolt end. Items may be attached either via the anchor bolt or the front or sides of the clasp.
The bracket can be removed for reuse by simply releasing the bolt and sliding the clasp of f the end of the post. Page2

Claims (5)

  1. Claims 1. A bracket consisting of a metal clasp formed to a profile
    consistent with concrete fencing posts, together with a fixing bolt and plate which can be screwed to tighten onto the fencing post
  2. 2. The bracket as in I with preformed holes to facilitate the fixing of items to be supported by the bracket.
  3. 3. The bracket as in I and 2 where the clasp is made of several parts, two side metal sections bent to profile of the post rebates and timber or plastic blocks joining these together and housing the bolt assembly.
  4. 4. The bracket as in 1, 2 and 3 with an eyebolt to facilitate the connection of wires, ropes or other items.
  5. 5. The bracket as in I, 2, 3 and 4 fitted with awasher plate to protect the bearing face of the concrete under the bolt head.
