Abstract

A portable clothes support device is bent from a strip of flat material to form a garment hook at 9 and has a channel at 7 to allow the device to locate over the top edge of a door and be removed therefrom without the use of tools. The region of the hook is formed with reinforcing grooves (fig. 4).

Sheet Number I Portable Garment Support Description This invention relates to a one-piece detachable garment support suitable for door mounting.
The small wardrobes and inadequate provision for garment hanging encountered in most hotels is annoying. Particularly when outdoor clothes are damp.
The object of this invention is to provide a clothes support that is easily transportable.
Accordingly this invention provides a single clothes hook that being readily detached from and attached to the top of a door
without the use of any tool allows utilisation in the home or hotel w I bedroom or bathroom, being easily-carried in a suitcase or handbag.
By nestling the channel portion over the top of a door. The formed part of the long leg provides a hook.
The acute angle of the hook ensures that the garment loops slide to the bottom of the vee resulting in the weight being transferred to the tension in the long leg () thus reducing the bending load on the small vee member) and allowing thin material to be used taking advantage of the gap between door and lintel.
Preferably the hook should be made from a narrow strip of very thin strong material, but capable of being formed into a rigid structure.

    This invention provides the traveller with a one piece clothes support that is readily attached to and detached from a door without the use of tools and being easily transportable.
