Abstract
A child resistant blister wallet incorporates a built in tab mechanism that is lifted and pulled. Once pulled the blister aperture i.e. the part that the tablet/capsule is pushed through is exposed and the tablet or capsule can be retrieved. If two or more tablet or capsules are in a line then the aperture cover can be place over the remaining tablet/capsule apertures and the "lift tab" can be replaced to secure the aperture cover in place again.

The Description Introduction "Lift and Pull"Child Resistant Blister Wallet Card Created by - C 5 Rodgers This product has been developed to fulfil the every increasing demand for child resistant protection for pharmaceutical blister packs both in the UK and the United States. Blister strips are routinely placed into cardboard wallets that fold and seal around the blister tray. This concept involves adding a removable piece of card that covers the blister aperture (the aperture is the part of the blister pack that the tablet/capsule is pushed through) into the design of a normal blister card wallet.
Problem Definition Increasingly strict legislation regarding child resistant pharmaceuticals has generated a need to make pharmaceutical blister packs child resistant. This has to be balanced with making the packs senior friendly. Current solutions involve placing the blister tray in a cardboard wallet with one or more adhesive barriers over the blister aperture, or require the use of an implement (e. g. a pen) to move a cover from an aperture. Neither of these solutions are senior friendly and all drastically increase the size of the pack. The solution was to come up with a way of covering the blister aperture with card in such a way that access could easily be gained by seniors and could not be easily obtained by children.
Essential Features This design has a number of essential features (see drawings 1 and 2). These include: 1. The aperture of the blister is covered by a piece of card therefore preventing access to the medication.
2. Small card tags to hold the cover in place-these tags will break when pressure is applied in the pulling phase.
3. An easy to use lift and pull perforated tab mechanism that does not require the use of additional implements.
4. Thumb hole access to a perforated tab.
5. A sticky tab that allows the aperture cover to be replaced over the aperture and secured in place. This is essential if more than one tablet or capsule are in a line.
6. Compact design, as individual cover is not required for each tablet/capsule aperture.

DRAWINGS The following drawings show an illustration of the blister wallet card. Drawing 1 shows single a tablet in a line. Drawing 2 shows multiple tablets in a line. These drawings illustrate some of the features described above. Figure 1 of each drawing shows the flat card template that is sealed around the blister pack. Figure 2 is an illustration of a finished wallet card.
