Abstract

A socket for loosening locknuts comprises a cylindrical body 1, and a border portion formed at an intermediate part of the body. A first tapered thread 2 extends from the border portion towards one end of the body, and a second tapered thread 3 extends from the border portion towards the other end of the body, where the second tapered end is dimensioned differently from the first tapered thread. Preferably the first and second threads are left-handed threads.

Description

2363748 Title: Socket for loosening locknuts
DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to a socket by which to loosen wheel nuts that can not be loosened by an ordinary socket Such a socket has ever been called a lug socket There are all kinds of nuts, which can not be loosened without each particular tool designed to loosen one of them.
An object of the present invention is to provide a socket which not only helps to loosen lug nuts easily but also has two types of socket portions of different dimensions for particular uses.
In order to attain the above object, a socket for loosening locknuts according to the present invention comprises a cylindrical body, a border portion formed at an intermediate part of said cylindrical body, a first tapered thread formed to run from said border portion toward one end of said cylindrical body, and a second tapered thread formed to run from said border portion toward the other end of said cylindrical body in manner that said second tapered thread is dimensioned differently from said first tapered thread.
More particularly, the socket comprises a cylindrical body, a border portion formed at an intermediate part of said cylindrical body, a first tapered left-hand thread formed to run from said border portion toward one end of said cylindrical body, and a second tapered left-hand thread formed to run from said border portion toward the other end of said cylindrical body in manner that said second tapered left-hand thread is dimensioned differently from said first tapered left-hand thread.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
The accompanying drawings show a typical example of a socket for loosening locknuts, according to the present invention Fig 1 is a longitudinal cross-sectional side view of a socket for loosening locknuts,
as connected to a handle Fig 2 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view thereof, with the socket portions used reversly Fig 3 is a front elevational view thereof Fig 4 is a rear elevational view thereof.
BEST MODE FOR WORKING THE INVENTION In the drawings, reference numeral 1 denotes a cylindrical socket body At an intermediate part of said cylindrical socket body is formed a border portion from which two types of tapered left-hand threads 2 and 3 of different dimensions run toward one and the other ends of said cylindrical socket body respectively in manner that said two tapered left-
hand threads 2 and 3 are integrally joined, with said border portion being their backs.
According to the present invention, when said cylindrical socket body is fitted on a nut and is turned reversely, the nut is forced to engage the socket body, thereby being loosened In this connection, since said two types of tapered left-hand threads are integrally formed in manner that an intermediate part of said socket body provides the border portion between the two, it is possible to surely connect each of said tapered left- hand threads to a corresponding nut, with the intermediate border portion of said one socket body shared with each other, thereby ensuring smooth utilization of the socket.

Claims (4)
