Abstract
Aromatic aldehydo-arsinic acids or mixed aliphatic-aromatic keto-arsinic acids are treated with the condensation products of ketones with hydrazone or its derivatives whereby the hydrazine residue is transferred to the arseno compound and the ketone is liberated. The products possess therapeutic properties. According to the examples, (1) p-benzaldehydearsinic acid, treated with acetone semicarbazone, yields the semicarbazone of p-benzaldehydearsinic acid and liberates acetone; (2) p-acetophenonearsinic acid is brought into reaction with acetone hydrazone and produces the hydrazone of p-acetophenonearsinic acid together with free acetone. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) describes also the preparation of the semicarbazone of p-acetophenonearsinic acid by treating p-acetophenonearsinic acid with the semicarbazone of acetone, acetophenone or p-amidoacetophenone. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
