Abstract

To protect a surface to be painted, a hook-and-loop type releasable fastening is used. Plastic suction cups, with an exterior tab of loop fastener at the rear end are placed onto the surface. A polyethylene sheet 1 equipped in the corners with tabs is pressed onto the loop fasteners of the plastic suction cups 3 making a secure bond between surface and cover.

Description

PAINT PROTECTION COVER This invention relates to a paint protection cover.

The conventional methods for protecting doorframes, window frames wainscoting and other wall features in the home from damage when redecorating is to apply tape to these surfaces with polyethylene sheeting.

The tape however, tends to leave a mark on many surfaces damaging them and requiring one to refinish the surface.

There is provided a paint protection cover which calls for reusable polyethylene sheeting sized to accommodate standard window, door wainscoting and other wall features in the home equipped with Velcro tabs in the corners, also plastic suction cups with an exterior tab of Velcro loop Fasteners are to be fused at the rear of the suction cup is placed against a surface, and the polyethylene protective sheeting is bonded to the suction cup at the Velcro point.

A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure 1 shows polyethylene sheeting equipped with Velcro tabs in the corners.

Figure 2 illustrates the plastic suction cups with an exterior tab of Velcro loop fastener at the rear of the suction cup.

Figure 3 illustrates the polyethylene sheet in position to bond with the Velcro loop fastener suction cup.

In order to provide a secure bond between wall feature and paint protection cover the suction cups 2 are placed against a feature so that the tabs of Velcro loop fasteners that are showing on the suction bond between cover and wall feature.

When one wishes to remove the paint protection cover from a surface the steps described above are carried out in reverse sequence.

Claims

CLAIMS A paint protection cover comprising a sheet of polyethylene equipped with Velcro tabs in the corners and suction cups with exterior tabs of Velcro loop fasteners at the rear of the suction cups bonded together to make a secure bond between surfaces and cover.

Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows 1."A kit of parts to be assembled to form a cover for protecting a surface during a painting operation, comprising a polythene cover sheet provided on its rear face with a fastening tabs, and suction cups each having a front face for releasable attachment by suction to the surface to be protected and a rear face having a fastening tab, the tabs on the cover sheet each being-inter-engageable with a tab on a suction cup to form a flexible releasable touch-and-close fastening of interpenetrating hooks and loops."
2."A cover for protecting a surface during a painting operation, comprising a polythene cover sheet provided on its rear face with fastening tabs, and suction cups each having a front face for releasable attachment by suction to the surface to be protected and a rear face having a fastening tab, the tabs on the cover sheet each being inter engaged with a tab on a suction to form flexible releasable touch-and close fastening of interpenetrating hooks and loops."
