Abstract

233,240. Webb, V. W. Oct. 20, 1924. Moulding hat blocks.- Blocks for blocking hats are made by first forming a pattern block, in clay or other material, producing from this a. cast in plaster of Paris or the like to form a mould, and using this mould to cast or mould the actual block in wood pulp or like material which permits of the fixing of nails. For producing the outer portions of the ordinary five-piece block having four outer parts connected by dovetails to a key member, the mould is provided with a recess D' to engage a projection on a core C provided with the necessary dovetails. The block is then moulded in wood pulp and cut into four parts.
