232,729. Taylor, P., and Hudson, W. Feb. 20, 1924. Combined turning, boring, and milling machines; boring- bar machines.-In a lathe of the type in which the spindle 2 is provided with an extension 2a to carry milling or boring tools, or a grinding disc, the extension being supported in a bearing 4<a> carried by an arm 4 on the headstock 5, the change wheels transmitting motion from the back shaft 16 to the feed-screw 15 are mounted at the tailstock end of the machine. The change wheels are secured on the outer ends 16<a>, 15<a> of the back shaft and feed screw, respectively, and on the stud 18. Underneath the extension 2<a> is arranged a vertically-movable support 8 carrying a slide 12 supporting a slidable work-table 13, the work being adapted to be moved longitudinally or transversely of the latter. When - a boring tool is employed the bearing 4<a> and arm 4 may be detached.
