Chimney tops.-A chimney cowl which prevents downdraught and assists updraught is formed with a cylindrical body 1 provided with baffles 2, 3 and rings of openings 4, 5 around the bottom and top respectively, the openings 5 being protected by a conical shield 6. The baffles 2, 3, which completely fill the mouths of the body 1, are in the form of truncated cones with axes inclined to the axis of the body, their smaller ends lying more or less side by side.
