Abstract

Hoods, opening tops, and weather screens.-In an open-to-closed road vehicle comprising a hood, windows, and doors, the front and rear doors on each side are hinged to a single upright member fixed directly to the chassis frame, the upper part of the upright forming slideways for the windows of each door and adapted to be detached from the lower part when desired. The hinged pillar 28, Fig. 7, of the doors is secured to the chassis frame, and the column or upper part 31 is detached from the hinge pillar and is fixed to the end of the adjacent part 33, Fig. 6, of the transverse screen. The parts 33 pivot at 34 on the sides of the window 35 and may be folded back and the whole turned down behind the front seats. The upper part 31 forms slideways for the windows 29, 30, Figs. 2 and 7, which may be concealed in the doors. The hood frame comprises at each side two parallel uprights 1, 3, Fig. 2, a cant-rail in three parts 2, 5, 6, a two-part backstay 15, 16 connected by a link 18 to the cantrail 5, links 11, 12, and hoop sticks 8, 9, 10, 13. A two-part window 22, 23 is disposed between the uprights 1, 3.
