Abstract

227,184. Hadley, F. V., and Carleton, R. A. Oct. 9, 1923. Rollers or cylinders, hollow.-A calendering cylinder 1 for use in electric heating apparatus has a heating surface 21 and current is supplied to a transformer 9 from the outside by means of brushes 6, 7, 8 and slip-rings 56, 57, 58. A fusible cut-out 12 and a thermostatic circuit breaker 14, set to open at a lower temperature are provided in the primary circuit. The temperature can be regulated by utilizing sections only of the primary windings. The heating surface 21 is connected to the secondary of the transformer by connections 18, 181, 19, 191, of low resistance.
