Regulating transformers; vapour apparatus, arrangements of. -In order to apply steps of rectified voltage to an electric motor or other apparatus, taps of a transformer secondary 43 arranged in two groups are connected through a drum controller and equalizing transformers 49, 52 to two pairs of anodes of a mercury vapour rectifier 10 which supplies the motor 1. In certain positions of the controller, both pairs of anodes take current from the same voltage taps and the equalizing transformers are short-circuited. In intermediate positions the two pairs of anodes are connected respectively to two adjacent voltage taps and the equalizing transformers are put into action in order that an intermediate voltage may be applied to the motor.
