Description
CONVERTIBLE AND ADJUSTABLE ROCKING CHAIR
The present invention relates to a convertible and adjustable rocking chair which can be operated in a rocking or fixed manner by simply reversing a supporting base. The present rocking chair is equipped with a chair body, a chair bracket and a supporting base wherein the chair body is designed to conform with the curvature of a human body when lying dozen in a comfortable pose and the chair bracket is made up of a pair of symmetrical mounting frames each comprising an arc arm and a fixing arm that are coupled together by welding; and the mounting frames are connected by a pair of laterally disposed rods to each other; and the supporting base is made up of a pair of symmetrical rocker frames each consisting of a first rocker arm having an extension leg disposed at each end thereof and a second rocker arm that are coupled together by welding; and the mounting frames are connected to each other by three lateral disposed rods.The chair body is covered with a pair of covers at the top and bottom thereof and a number of securing strips disposed thereunder thereby the chair body can be secured to the chair bracket; the chair bracket is produced to conform with the configuration of the chair body and is provided with a pair of lateral supporting rods so that the chair body can be supported in place; the supporting base is able to be disposed with the smoothly curved middle of the first rocker arms having four extension legs in contact with the ground or is reversely disposed with the four extension legs in contact with the ground whereby the chair can be operated in a rocking or fixed manner.
There are many types of prior art rocking chairs avaliable on the market which can be operated in a rocking or fixed manner but not in both. The conventional rocking chair permits a sitter to put himself or herself in a sitting or lying position by simple adjustment of a conversion means. Moreover the conventional rocking chairs are relatively large and are space-consuming; and the declining angle of the chair back is either fixed or can be varied in a number of stages when put in a lying mode. The adjustment of the declining angle is effected by way of an adjusting means disposed next to the elbow of a sitter.
The disadvantage of the prior art adjustable rocking chair is that the declining angle of the chair back thereof is varied by engaging a supporting rod with one of a number of recesses which are easily deformed as a result of frequent use, causing the malfunction of the chair.
Furthermore, the prior art rocking chair can not be converted into a fixed manner and is limited in its use.
Therefore, it is considered advantageous in the present invention to provide a convertible and adjustable rocking chair which can be set at different angles.
It is also considered advantageous in the present invention to provide a convertible and adjustable rocking chair which can be arranged in a rocking or fixed mode.
It is also considered advantageous in the present invention to provide a convertible and adjustable rocking chair which is simple in structure and easy to assemble and cheap to produce.
It is also considered advantageous in the present invention to provide a convertible and adjustable rocking chair having a chair body which can be covered with a mat for keeping the user cool in the summer and a mat for keeping the user warm in the winter so as to make a sitter feel comfortable thereon.
Preferred embodiments of the present invention will now be described in detail, by way of example only, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
Figure 1 is a diagram showing an exploded view of the chair of the present invention;
Figure 2 is a diagram showing the assembled chair in a rocking mode and the adjustability of the chair bracket on the supporting base;
Figure 2A is a diagram showing the chair put in a fixed mode with the supporting base thereof reversely disposed;
Figure 3 is a perspective view showing the present invention in a rocking mode; and
Figure 4 is a perspective view showing the present invention in a fixed mode.
Referring to Fig.l to Fig. 4 of the drawings, the convertible and adjustable rocking chair of the present invention comprises a supporting base 2, a chair bracket 3 and a chair body 4.
The supporting base 2 includes a pair of symmetrical rocker frames connected to each other by a laterally disposed suspension rod 25 and an upper and a lower supporting rod 26, 27 parallel to the suspension rod 25. Each rocker frame is made up of a first rocker arm 21 and a second rocker arm 22 that are welded together and each first rocker arm 21 is provided with an extension leg 23 and 24 at respective end thereof
The chair bracket 3 includes a pair of symmetrical mounting frames connected together by a pair of laterally disposed supporting rods 321 and 322. Each mounting frame is made up of an arc arm 32 and a fixing arm 31 welded to the ends of the arc arm 32. The fixing arm 31 is made conform . to the curvature of the chair body 4.
The chair body 4 is a curvedly structured mattress which conforms to such a curvature that a person in a lying position can feel comfortable therein. The chair body has a front portion 41 and a rear portion 42 that are provided with a cover 411 and 421 respectively; and the front portion 41 is provided with a pillow shaped protrusion 412 at the end thereof and a number of securing strips 43 are disposed at the side edges of the covers 411 and 421 respectively.
When assembled, the chair body 4 is secured to the chair bracket 3 by putting the top ends of the fixing arms 31 into the cover 411 and the bottom ends thereof into the cover 421 with the securing strips 43 tied to the fixing arms 31. Afterwards, the chair bracket 3 is disposed on top of the supporting base 2 with the arc arms 32 in abutment against the suspension rod 25 and the upper supporting rod 26; the chair bracket 3 is freely mounted onto the supporting base 2 so that it can be randomly adjusted as long as the arc arms 32 of the chair bracket 3 are in supporting association with the supporting rods 321, 322 whereby the declining angle of the chair can be varied
as shown in Fig. 2.
Moreover, the supporting base 2 of the present invention can be reversed with the legs 23, 24 thereof in contact with the ground as shown in Fig. 4 so as to convert the rocking chair into a fixed chair. When put in the fixed mode, the chair bracket 3 is also mounted onto the supporting base 2 with the arc arms 32 in supporting association with the suspension rod 25 and the lower supporting rod 27 whereby the rocking chair can be fixed in place but the declining angle of the chair body can still be stagelessly adjusted.
