Abstract
226,867. Abdulla & Co., Ltd., and Legg, O. Sept. 25, 1923. Tobacco.-The individual leaves of a bundle or "hand" Z of tobacco leaves are wholly or partly separated by flexing the bundle two or more times in the same direction. As shown, the bundle Z, delivered from a loosening device such as that described in Specification 214,684, is carried between bands H, I of a device B around a flexing roller J. The bands H, I are carried over guide pulleys H<1>, L, K, N, I, some of which may be tensioned by springs such as X. The band H is driven by a driving-roller K<11>, the band I being driven frictionally from the band H or through gearing K<1>, M, M', N' from the roller K<11>. The pinions M, M' are mounted on a slotted sector O rotatable about the roller K<11>, the pinion M being replaceable in order to drive the belt I at different speeds. Two or more devices such as B may be employed, the driving rollers M<1> of which are driven at successively increasing speeds. '
