Abstract

226,749. Marks, E. C. R., (Studebaker Corporation). July 25, 1924. Hoods.-Means, retractible within the body of the vehicle, are provided in conjunction with a bracket on a hood-stick to support the hood when in folded position. A socket member 17, Fig. 6, fixed to the side, of the vehicle is provided with a spring-controlled bolt 14 having a tapered head 15 and a button 16 for manipulating it. A bracket 22, Figs. 3 and 6, having an open-sided tapered slot is provided on a hood-stick 10 and is adapted to engage the head of the bolt 14 when this is withdrawn from the body. The device may be mounted on each side of the vehicle. A strap or other means is provided for securing the hoodsticks together when the hood is folded.
