Abstract
The physiologically active substances present in ovaries, corpora lutea or placentae are obtained in concentrated form by dissolving in a volatile solvent, such as acetone and methyl alcohol, a preparation of the substances obtained in known manner, and particularly according to the process of Specification 113,311, and treating the solution with basic lead acetate and/or cooling it to a temperature below -20 DEG C. The basic lead acetate solution is preferably prepared by boiling equal parts of lead acetate and lead oxide in methyl alcohol, while the low temperature may be obtained by the use of solid carbon dioxide and ether. Examples are given.ALSO:Basic lead acetate is prepared by boiling equal parts of lead acetate and lead oxide in methyl alcohol.
